Life Lesson 116: Keep your personal business to yourself

Dear Readers,

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. I had a relaxing weekend because I was able to watch a couple of TV shows that I had not seen in a long time. In any event, I thought about my life and the things that I consider personal. The things that are personal to us are the things that we rarely discuss with other people. We tend to keep these things close to our hearts because we value our secrets. Today, we are going to discuss the reasons why you should keep your personal business to yourself.

This is why your personal business should stay personal:

Your personal business is personal because it belongs to you. It is the part of your life that you do not show to everyone. You would much rather not tell anyone about these things because people might judge you. In any event, your business should stay in your house unless you want the whole world to know what you really do when no one is around. As an adult, you do not have to answer to anyone on what you do. But you must know that there are some things that should not be said in public. Discretion should be used when you are trying to make statements in front of open crowds.

People fail to realize that your words are what people will judge you by. Once you make an inappropriate statement, people will begin to believe that you will say anything that comes to your mind. Basically, you will be labeled as a person who does not know what to say in certain settings. Even when you are around friends, there are certain things that you should keep to yourself. Overall, it is important to show respect no matter where you are. The best way to show respect is to discuss things that will not hurt you or other people around you.

Lastly, it is best to keep your personal business off of social media websites. Some people do not understand that employers use social media in order to screen perspective employees. When you put your personal business on these websites, you are giving people a front door to your life. And when people are able to look into your life, they may have plenty of reasons to judge you and how you live your life. If you want to keep your personal life a secret, you need to be mindful of what you post online. Even if you erase the post, the content will always be available on the World Wide Web!

All in all, keep your personal business to yourself!!
