Life Lesson 139: Education is the Key

Good Afternoon Readers,

Today has been an amazing day. The sun is shining and the birds are flying everywhere. I am glad that it is warm outside so that I can go to the beach and relax. Also, I found out that I have a job interview on Friday for a position that I applied for 24 hours ago. In any event, today has been a productive day. Today, I would like to discuss education and the ways that it can enhance your life over time.

Let's begin:

1. Education can enhance your life because it will help you to understand the skills that you possess. You will be able to see that you can apply your skills to various careers. If you have computer skills, you will be able to do lots of data entry and entry-level positions. If you have analytical skills, you will be able to do jobs that require math and problem solving. Overall, review your skills so that you can apply them to an upcoming job opportunity.

2. Education can help you to broaden your horizons. With education, you will be able to look at jobs that you were not able to apply for years ago. With a Bachelor's or a Master's Degree, you are going to be able to look at positions that will require you to have certain skills so that you can get a certain salary. Having a degree can help you to get a better job and it will broaden your horizons for future jobs.

3. Education can help you to enhance your interests. There are various interests that a person can have such as: music, art, writing, psychology, etc. No matter what your interests are, you will be able to explore them during the time that you are pursuing your education. Take some time to take classes in each area so that you can see what you enjoy. Once you find out what you enjoy, you will be able to do more classes in that particular area or a combination of two areas.

4. Education will help you to make wiser decisions.

Life Lesson 138: Discover your best asset

Good Morning Readers,

I had an eventful weekend. I was able to spend time reflecting on my next few postings. Also, I had a chance to spend time with my family. We were able to spend time in conversation. Mostly, we talked about life and how it may change within the next year. In a year, I might have a different job or I may be living in a different location. Life is so unpredictable. But no matter what happens, I trust God to lead me in the direction that he wants me to be in. But today, we are going to discuss the ways that we can discover our best asset.

Let's begin.....

Some people look at their best asset as something that can make them money. Many people are willing to sell their bodies to the highest bidder. They have placed a price tag on their bodies and they do not see their bodies as being valuable. The sad part is that after their bodies are broken down, they will have to find other ways to make money. All in all, never use your body as a pawn for services to other people. Learn to value your body as a temple of God. If God is supposed to live there, then it should be kept in a way that would honor God at all times.

Some people see their job as their best asset. These people come to work early and they leave late almost everyday. They aim to do their very best so that they can complete their projects. They are team players and they seek to help other people so that they can reach their goals. Overall, these are the people that we would all like to work with. However, do not place your greatest investment around a job. At any point in time, your job could downsize or do lay offs, and you may have to find a new job. Do as much as you can to enjoy your job but always been on the lookout for a new job in the event that your current job goes South.

Some people see their best asset as the car that they drive. These people are always trying to find ways to improve their vehicle so that they can get more compliments from other people. They want to be seen and noticed at all times. I would call these people attention-seekers. No matter what happens, your car is not your best asset. If your car breaks down, you will have to get another one. So do not place all of your time and value in a car. Place your value in something that will help you to be of assistance to other people who are in need.

Some people think that their best asset is the personal relationship with God. These people spend time with God in the morning, afternoon, or evening. They take the time to seek guidance from God on how to navigate their day. These people seek to have a closer relationship with God because they want to know more about God and themselves. Also, these individuals share their faith with other people. They seek to see other people establish a relationship with God. If you are looking to find a place to invest, then you need to invest in a personal relationship with God. One day, life will change and if you do not have a strong foundation in God, you will fall for anything. As much as possible, spend some time reading the Bible and in prayer so that you can draw closer to God no matter what is going on around you.

Overall, the best asset that you have (or can have) is a personal relationship with God.

Life Lesson 137: Learn to be content with what you have

Good Morning Readers,

I hope that you all are having a wonderful morning. My morning started off with prayer. I had a chance to express to God the things that I was concerned about. I am so glad that I know God and the fact that he hears all of our prayers and concerns. After I prayed, I felt safe in knowing that God would hold my concerns in the palm of his hand and that he would answer them in his own time. Too often, we worry about things that we cannot change. We have not learned to be content with what we have. Today, I would like to discuss the reasons why we are not content and how we can change these habits.

Let's begin:

In life, we are not content because we are so busy focusing on what other people have. We look at their possessions and we wonder why we have not been blessed like they have. We want the diamonds, big houses, amazing jobs, and everything else that comes along with someone else's life. These days, we believe the perception that people give us. You may think that people are living the good life but it is possible that they could be doing some illegal things to maintain the lifestyle that you envy. As much as possible, focus your mind on what you have and how you can improve your life.

We are not content with what we have because we want things but sometimes, we refuse to work hard for them. For Example: A person may want to be a CEO one day. But in order to be a CEO, you need to have some kind of college training. A Bachelor's Degree or a Master's Degree would help you to get an entry-level job in the organization. As time goes on, you will have a chance to learn more about your job and other jobs. Over time, you will have a chance to attain various positions and you might be a CEO one day. But in all things, there is patience and determination. If you seek a position and you are not willing to work hard for it, you will not be able to attain your dream job in life until you change your work mindset.

We are not content because we have learned to be content. We have not learned to look at life through a glass that is half full and not half empty. We look at our lives as if we are going around in circles but we fail to realize that God is taking us through various experiences so that he can perfect our character. We look at our friends and we wonder why our lives are the way that they are. But we need to look at ourselves as works in progress. We are better people and we have learned to make sound decisions as a result of our past experiences. Today, make it your mission to be content with what you have. God blessed you with what you have because he intended for you to live the best life that you could live.

Aim to be more content and focus on your life and how it can be improved over time.

Life Lesson 136: Stop thinking that your life is over if you do not have a woman in your life

Good Morning Readers,

Today has started off on a great note. I am thankful for my family, friends, and for the life that I have been given. I am the type of person who enjoys surprises and planning surprises for other people. Recently, I planned a little surprise and I was in suspense because I knew about the surprise and the other person did not know. Well, a few hours ago, I found out that the surprise brightened the person's day. These days, it helps to know that there are people in your life who want to see you smile. Well, today, I would like to discuss the mindset of some men who think that their lives are over because they do not have a woman in their life.

Let's begin.....

Some men think that they have to have a woman in their lives at all times. These men think that they have to portray a certain image in front of their friends. They want to be accepted and they feel that a woman will help them to earn that acceptance from others. But if you want to earn acceptance from your friends, you need to be yourself. Whether a woman is on your arm or not, you need to be able to hold your own when you are around your friends.

Some men think that they need a woman because they want to be like their friends who have girlfriends. In life, it is not good to be a follower. If you follow your friends, that means that you will do what they do in order to fit in with them. You do not know what your friends are doing in order to keep the girlfriend that they have. Just because your friends have girlfriends, it does not mean that you have to have one. Your friends should be able to hang out with you whether you have a girlfriend or not.

Some men feel that they need a woman because they are tired of being alone. They want someone who will love them for who they are. They want someone who will support them in their endeavors. But more importantly, they want someone who will love them for their positive traits as well as their flaws. But the biggest part of this is the alone part. Do not pick a person because you are alone. You do not need to make any decisions when you feel alone and desperate. The worst decisions made in desperation tend to affect people for a lifetime. Get your life in order and then you will be able to make a sound decision on who you want to be with.

Your life is not over because you do not have a woman....invest in pursuing your goals until she comes along.

Life Lesson 135: Stop thinking that your life is over if you do not have a man in your life

Good Afternoon Readers,

I am so glad that I have been blessed to see another day of life. Today has so many possibilities and I plan to exercise all of those possibilities as I continue my writing. In any event, this weekend was eventful but I am glad that I was able to sell 7 of my books. As an author, I get excited each time that I sell a book. It shows me that people really believe in my books (Lessons on Church Folk Volume 1 & 2). But if people are to believe in your book, you have to be the biggest fan of your work. Today, I would like to discuss the mindset of people who believe that their lives are over if they do not have a man. Your life is not over.....but you just need to change your focus until you are able to handle a relationship.

Let's begin.....

Too many women place their entire focus on getting a man. Some common phrases are: "She has a man and I want one too" or "I need a man so that he can fulfill me". First of all, do not seek out a man because someone else has a man. You have no idea what she is going through in order to keep that man. You need to be clear on why you feel that you need a man. Fulfillment is not a good reason. You need to be fulfilled with yourself before the man walks into the picture. Find ways to place your focus on other things besides getting a man. You need to have your life in order to the place where you are a whole person and he is a whole person. Remember, two whole people in a relationship equals a healthy relationship.

Too many women are focused on keeping a man. A common phrase is: "He's my man and he is only looking at me". Be honest with yourself: He might be dating you but that does not mean that he will not look at other women. He was born to look at women because that he is how he found you in the first place. As much as possible, do not take ownership of a guy just because he is dating you. Enjoy the time that you spend with him but do not assume that he is just dating you unless you both have agreed to be exclusive with each other.

Many women think that a man will complete their lives. Before the man comes along, your life should be complete based on the things that you are doing to improve yourself. If you are going to college, you are doing what is needed in order to be the best in your career. If you are pursuing a new job, you should do what you can so that you can move up the career ladder. No matter what happens, you need to do what is necessary so that you can complete yourself before a man enters your life.

Your life is not over because you do not have a man....treasure yourself, love yourself, and embrace yourself.

Life Lesson 134: You are never too old to learn

Good Afternoon Readers,

Today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining outside and it looks like it might be another beach day for me. In any event,  I am so thankful that the semester is over. I successfully passed my comprehensive examination for my doctoral program and now I am writing the first three chapters of my dissertation. The end of the program is coming fast but I am working one day at a time so that I can enjoy graduation when it comes. Today, I wanted to talk about learning. Too often, people think that they are too old to learn. Well, today, I plan to explain the reasons why we never stop learning in this life.

Let's begin:

Every day that you are alive, you learn something new. You learn more about yourself and others around you. You constantly surround yourself with people who's lives are always changing. Life is an ongoing learning process and when you cease to learn, you will cease to live.

As you learn, you are enhancing the amount of information that your brain can hold. Many people believe that we are using our maximum capacity in our brains but in reality, we are only using a fraction of our brains. As we learn, we are increasing our brain power and our brains are stretching in order to hold new information.

As you learn, you are able to see that you are able to reach your dreams if you want to. If you have a dream to go to college, you can begin to realize that dream by filling out the application. If you have a dream to ride a bike, you can practice riding a bike or watching someone else ride a bike. Whatever your dream is, it all begins with the first step that you make towards making your dream come true.

As you learn, you will be able to share your learning with other people. For Example: As you learn more about health, you will be able to help others to improve their health over time. As you learn more about writing a paper, you can help others to get the necessary tools that they need in order to write a paper. The more you learn, the more you can share with others.

You are never too old to learn. No matter what happens, learning occurs at every stage of life.

Life Lesson 133: Get Your Education

Dear Readers,

I hope that you had a productive day. My day has been good. I am so excited to be on Spring Break this week. I need to catch up on some things before I start school again next Monday! In any event, I am enjoying my time with my family this week. As I thought about various topics, I recall a slogan that I was told when I was in high school. I was told to "Get My Education" because education can open doors for me. As time goes on, I realize that this slogan is the truest statement that I have heard in a long time. Well, today's blog post will be about the importance of getting a good education.

Let's begin.....

Getting a good education is necessary in order for you to move from one job to another job. In many job applications, there is a section on education/technical skills. Many employers expect you to have some kind of degree so that you can perform the necessary job duties. In any event, it is important to get a good education so that you can secure a good job in your career field.

Getting a good education means that you will be able to live a more independent life. Being independent means that you will be able to pay for all of your living expenses on your own. Also, you will be able to decide on where you will live and the kind of job that you will have. When you get a good education, you will be able to call the shots on what you would like to do in your life.

When you get a good education, you are able to make sound decisions on your future. Many people say that they want a certain job and they want to live in a certain city, but they do not have the education that will secure them a better future. If people would invest in themselves and their education, they would be able to have a greater chance at pursuing the job that they want. There are some people who have secured a great future without having a college degree. But this has happened in rare instances. As much as possible, do what you can so that you can have a better future for yourself.

When you get a good education, you are able to create a better lifestyle for your children. In a lot of ways, your education will help you to guide your children towards a greater future. The opportunities that you were afforded will serve as a blessing to your children. As much as possible, expose them to career fairs, science fairs, school trips, and even your job so that they will be able to see that they will need to work hard so that they can have what is necessary so that they can have the career that they want.

Above all things, aim to get a good education!
Pursuit of education -> graduation -> future job opportunities
