Life Lesson 101: What is your purpose?

Good Afternoon Readers,

I hope that your day is going well. Today, I am going to start a new topic called Life Lessons. These lessons are topics and issues that we all experience on a daily basis. As I thought about this topic, I thought that it would be a great idea to discuss the purpose of our lives and how to achieve it.

I will begin this section with a quote that I read in an amazing book called Embracing Your Destiny. The quote reads: "Until I make a decision to live each moment with purpose and tenacity, and enjoy the presence of the Divine, I will spend the rest of my life engaging in the relentless pursuit of triviality and nothingness" (J. Harry, pg. ix). As I read this quote, I realized that I must always be searching to find those things that will help me to get close to my purpose. As I read this book, I found helpful tips that helped me to realize my purpose and the things that I can do to fulfill my purpose.

Here are some tips that you can do in order to fulfill your purpose (Antoinette's point of view):
1. First, you must know that you were created by God for a purpose. You were placed on this Earth for a reason. The purpose that you have is one that will develop over time. Some people know their purpose while other people need time to figure it out.
2. A part of finding your purpose is following directions. Do you tend to walk the road that everyone goes on or do you make your own pathway so that others can follow you? Finding your purpose includes being a leader in whatever you are assigned to do. If you are happy with following other people, you will never get close to understanding your purpose in this life.
3. Another part of finding your purpose is educating yourself. You cannot say that you want to be a doctor when you refuse to study. You cannot do anything without properly preparing yourself for the mission that you are embarking on. In life, you have to be willing to earn additional education or certifications so that you can move towards the career that you want to be in.
4. In finding your purpose, you must look at the things that you enjoy doing. If you enjoy cooking and you see yourself owning a restaurant, you need to take the classes that are needed so that you can successfully run your business. In life, you have to enjoy your job and you will not be able to work a job if you do not enjoy what you are doing.
5. A part of finding your purpose is recognizing the call that has been placed on your life. You can make a detour if you want to but the call will still be there. If you have been called to be a professor and you decide to be a trash collector, you have just defeated your purpose. You were not called to be a trash collector so stop acting like you know what is best for you. If you follow the purpose that God has for you, you will not have to wait 20 years until you realize your purpose. The main reason why people are unhappy and they tend to withdraw from life and relationships is because people are not following their purpose. Stop wallowing in your own ignorance and wake up. You know what your purpose is. Follow the plan and start experiencing true happiness.
6. A part of finding your purpose is deciding who belongs in your life. Too often, we put people in our lives because they do things for us. That is fine but you need to make sure that these people support you as you find your purpose. Some people are just not meant to be in your life. Stop trying to place people in your life when you know that they will do nothing but bring you down to their level. If you want to find your purpose, stop drowning yourself in other people's negative point of view. Just because they don't want to make anything of their lives, it doesn't mean that you have to follow them. Follow your purpose even if you are the only person on that pathway.
7. Another part of finding your purpose is making mistakes. In life, we all make mistakes because we need to learn that we cannot do anything that we want to do. We all have strengths and weaknesses but we need to decide if we will allow our lives to be governed by what we want instead of what we need. Mistakes help us and they make us stronger people. If we did not make mistakes, we would not know what to do if we were placed in certain situations.
8. A greater part of finding your purpose is a connection with God. In life, we all go through struggles but sometimes we need to spend time in prayer so that God can direct us to the purpose that he has for us. A connection can be established through prayer, devotional study, or even attending church. No matter what you choose, please know that this connection is crucial. No one can direct you towards your purpose like God can.
9. Another part of finding your purpose is looking at the way you think. If you always think negatively of your life, your feet will never get off the ground. Start look at your life in a positive perspective. Yes, you have a past but your past does not have to define your future. Everyday that you are alive, you have a chance to start all over again. Don't kill your purpose by thinking that "you can't do it". You have been equipped with the tools that you need to succeed. You are standing in the way of your purpose.........start being positive so that you can see your purpose in plain view.
10. A final part of your purpose is analyzing the way that you respond to situations. If you believe that every situation is hard and you want to cuss people out, I can promise that your purpose will be far away from you. In life, you don't have to react harshly to everything that people say and do. Sometimes, silence is the best situation when you feel like you want to tell a person off. Your words stick to people like glue. Try to work on thinking before you speak. In life, your words are what people use to identify you as a person. Aim to be known as a person who knows how to step back before responding to a situation.

I hope that this post was helpful. Our purpose is real and until we get over ourselves, we will never reach it. I want to walk into my purpose with the style and grace that is necessary for me to live my life in the best possible way.

Run towards your purpose and realize that your existence on Earth is for a special purpose.
